Day 5 - September 8th - Shanghai to Nanjing
We are now on our way to Shanghai Railway Station where we are taking a train to Nanjing.
An apartment building near our Hotel in Shanghai.
Last breakfast in Shanghai!
We are eating our last breakfast in Shanghai before leaving for Nanjing.
In China, there are over 1,3 Billion people. How to channel the stream of people into one single building? Each and everyone of them has needs and to board a train.
When you arrive at the Railway Station, you have to go through a security check, where they check your ID, train ticket and all bags go through a scanner. Then you look at the information board to find the right "Waiting room" (picture).
15-20 minutes before the departure of the train, the check-in starts. Everyone flocks around the machines that all the tickets has to go through, and then you can go to the platform to wait for the train. In our case, it was already there waiting for us.
Ready to go!
A very informative sign, but it also made us wonder... What is this t-E-xi?
This texi took us to our hotel, and as it turned out, it's pretty much like the taxis we have, except the drivers are Chinese.
Ouside our hotel.
Julie and Elise Shumei.
To you living in Bergen, look what we found!
For dinner, we met Julie again, who's actually studying in Nanjing. She took us to a restaurant where they served traditional old-style Chinese food. It was delicious!
Nanjing Metro Map. Our hotel was close to Daminglu Station, along the green Metro Line (3).
A shopping place underground with loads of tiny little shops with clothes, shoes, bathroom accessories, mobile phone accessories, bags, food and drink, etc, etc, etc.
